This is Mosaic-AmiTCP 2.0 prerelease 3
Changes from the previous prerelease include:
Mosaic/Prefs is now read properly for Sendmail and Editor.
Improved understanding of the differences between
'/' and ':' in the program
The default documentation directory, and the default home
page, now correctly point at www.omnipresence.com.
The mailto handler now checks the contents of the Editor and
Sendmail variables somewhat more stringently.
If an error occurs while storing a binary during a file
transfer, AMosaic now informs the user and aborts the
transfer (this includes "disk full", if you cancel the
AmigaDOS requester).
You may now specify the telnet and rlogin programs to use.
The following precedence applies, with the first being the
primary. For telnet:
Mosaic/Telnet environment variable
Telnet environment variable
Telnet ENV:Mosaic/Prefs entry
For Rlogin:
Mosaic/Rlogin environment variable
Rlogin environment variable
Rlogin ENV:Mosaic/Prefs entry
RLogin and Telnet should use the AS225 parameter convention:
rlogin [user username] hostname
and
telnet hostname [port]
Mike Smith put the code in for AmiTCP to act the same, when
rlogin or telnet are defined, and continue to use Napsaterm
when not. I've left it as is until there is a consensus on what it
should be for AmiTCP.
NOTE: when you are specifying external programs to run, PLEASE
REMEMBER to specify full pathnames. AMosaic does _not_, repeat
_not_, inherit the Workbench path on startup. This applies to
Sendmail, Editor, Telnet, Rlogin, and everything in your mailcap
file.

This is the comment from AMosaic20Prerelease1_AmiTCP.lha:

NOTE: AMosaic 2.0prelease1 fixed a bug with setting up REXX
menu items, and incorporated most of the AS225 fixes/enhancements
from AMosaic-AS225 beta5. It was also the first AmiTCP version to
be compiled with optimization.
This is the comment from beta5 of AMosaic 1.4 for AS225 (14.1663).
It has the following differences from the AmiTCP beta4 version:
1) Mailto: is supported.
Mailto: requires that a mail system is already installed. AMosaic
does not do the protocol handling internal to itself. It calls
an external editor given a filename. The editor must _NOT_ detach
itself from the provided CLI.
If you've installed the mailto: script recently posted to the mailing
list, I've got no idea what happens.
If the user changes text, AMosaic then calls an external mailer,
using the following format:
program <mail
The following configuration information is understood in Mosaic/prefs:
Sendmail
Editor
which should be paths to the relevant programs. I've tested sendmail
as the sendmail from AmigaUUCP 1.17b4 and SMTPpost from INetUtils 1.4.
For an editor, I've used DME and C:ED.
You may also specify
Mosaic/Sendmail
Mosaic/Editor
Sendmail
Editor
as environment variables. They are checked in the above order. The
environment variables override entries in Mosaic/prefs.
2) Move files from T:
You may now move temporary files from T:.
AMosaic uses two different types of temporary files (don't ask, you
really don't want to know). For most files, set
TempDir
in your Mosaic/Prefs file to the desired directory.
IT *MUST*, REPEAT *MUST* end in a '/' or a ':'.
You may optionally set
Mosaic/TempDir
as an environment variable. If set, it overrides Mosaic/Prefs. It
also must end in a '/' for a ':'.
For other temporary files, set the environment variable
HOME
to another temporary directory. If Mosaic/Tempdir is not set, either
in the environment or in the Mosaic/Prefs file, but HOME is, then
both types of temporary files will go to the directory specified by
the HOME variable.
IT *MUST*, REPEAT *MUST* end in a '/' or a ':'.
3) Environment checked even if Mosaic/Prefs doesn't exist.
Older versions of AMosaic would not check for environment configuration
if the file ENV:Mosaic/Prefs did not exist.
4) Release telnet/rlogin/tn3270 memory
Older versions of AMosaic did not release the memory used in telnet,
rlogin, or tn3270 sessions.
5) More telnet/rlogin/tn3270 stack
Older AS225 versions of AMosaic only applied 4000 bytes of stack for
these external programs. Now, 32,000 bytes are allocated.
6) Some visual change
Stephen Burstroem made some "minor gui change" to AmiTCP-beta4, which I
did not receive a source update for. I don't know what it is, and it
isn't in this version.
7) Compiled with optimization
The AS225 version is compiled with all SAS/C 6.55 optimization turned
on and at full force.
8) Corrected a possible enforcer hit when accessing news.
9) .ZIP is recognized properly.
10) Several efficiency and portability source code changes
11) External viewers are spawned differently, in ways which should prevent
them from causing AMosaic to crash
12) Path names are dealt with properly, and a bad path will not cause
AMosaic to crash
13) No more accesses to insti.physics.sunysb.edu -- all internal references
to AMosaic home pages, help pages, etc. now point to www.omnipresence.com.
This is the standard "Readme" for AMosaic 1.4beta:
AMosaic14beta
-------------
As AMosaic2.0 is almost ready and the missing features (localfiles,
installer script and prefs editor) are of minor importance for the
preformance we have decided to release the same version as our
betatesters have been testing. This version is called AMosaic1.4beta
and it is still a beta (although almost all bugs are gone).
This is the AS225 version. An AmiTCP version is available. A DNET
version is not. It should be ready for the final release.
This archive (or parts of it) MAY NOT be uploaded to aminet or any other
place that distributes Amiga software (eg big BBS'es, CDrom collections etc.)
The reason for this is simple: We don't want this version to be mistaken
for the final one.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Usage:
Just run this version instead of the old one.
It will read your old hotlist and use your old config file.
There has been some additions to the env/prefs file:
TitleToWindow True/False ;Show the document title in the window title
Buttons Text/Images/Images&Text ; The look of the tool bar.
IsindexToForm True/False ; Show an <isindex> markup tag as a form.
Please note that the image cache is flushed every time the window is iconified.
This is not a bug, it is a feature to avoid crashes when moving AMosaic
between different screens.
You may wish to make sure, when doing forms, that you have at least
32K stack.
That's it
